Your Comprehensive Guide to Navigating Your NDIS Plan

Getting Started with Your NDIS Plan

Upon receiving your NDIS plan, it’s important to familiarise yourself with the goals, budgets, and support areas outlined. These elements guide how your funding will be allocated and what services you can access.

  • Understanding your plan and its components.
  • Immediate steps post-receiving your NDIS plan.

Key Players in Your NDIS Journey

You’ll interact with several roles: Early Childhood Partner, Local Area Coordinator, Support Coordinator, and your NDIA Planner. They guide you through planning, goal-setting, and understanding your funding.

  • Your early childhood partner, local area coordinator, and NDIA planner roles explained.
  • How these parties assist in plan implementation and updates.

Funding Management Options

There are three primary ways to manage your NDIS funding:

Self-Managed:

Funds are transferred to you, and you pay service providers directly.

Plan-Managed:

An allocated plan manager will handle payments on your behalf.

NDIA-Managed:

NDIA directly pays service providers for you.

Tracking Your Progress

To ensure you’re making the most of your plan, regularly consult with your involved parties like your Local Area Coordinator or Support Coordinator. Check your goals and revise the plan as necessary.

  • NDIA staff and Partners in the Community can assist in the application process.
  • Early childhood partners and local coordinators can help gather evidence for your application.
  • If you've started an application, you'll be referred to a local NDIS partner for review and guidance.
  • Contact the National Contact Centre at 1800 800 110 for a referral to an NDIS partner.
